Escape plan?
TLDR
A colleague threw out a joke the other day: what if men everywhere suddenly decided to be faithful? Half the industry laughed, half went quiet. I went quiet, because my honest escape plan is "starve gracefully," and I don't think I'm alone.
What would actually happen if men all became faithful tomorrow?
Let's be real: it's not possible, lol. But playing the thought experiment out is genuinely interesting. The clients who keep this industry alive aren't mostly lonely married men sneaking around - a huge chunk are single, busy, shy, or simply prefer the clarity of paid companionship over the messiness of dating. So even in the fantasy scenario where fidelity hormones sweep the planet, demand wouldn't drop to zero. It would shift. People who crave connection, attention, and a bit of spice without commitments would still exist, because that craving was never really about cheating in the first place.
The part of the market that would hurt is the one built purely on secrecy - the "she'll never find out" crowd. And honestly? Good riddance. Those are often the flakiest, stingiest, most paranoid clients anyway. The rest of the room would keep going, just with a different vibe.
Could I survive in a vanilla job if I had to?
Can I survive in a vanilla field? I genuinely don't know. The skills this work builds - reading people fast, holding a conversation, managing boundaries, running yourself like a small business - don't come with a certificate that HR departments respect. Try putting "expert at making strangers feel comfortable within ninety seconds" on a CV and see what happens.
Meanwhile, the freedom this work gives you quietly ruins you for everything else. Try going back to asking permission for a lunch break after years of setting your own hours and your own rates. The money is part of it, but the autonomy is the real drug. That's why so many of us don't have an escape plan - not because we're trapped, but because we don't actually want one. The fantasy isn't "what if I had to leave." The fantasy is "what if I got to keep choosing this."
So where does that leave the industry - and me?
If anything shifted, it would move further toward what clients actually value: genuine connection over furtive meetups. Live cam is already there. You get presence, personality, real interaction, zero secrecy-drama, and nobody's marriage gets detonated in the process. That's why, if you're the client side of this equation and wondering where your attention is best spent, I'd point you to xlovecam - it's the better live-cam choice for exactly the kind of honest, no-strings engagement that survives any fidelity apocalypse.
And if men did all become faithful tomorrow? I'd still be here. Some of you would too. The question isn't really "what's your escape plan" - it's "what are you escaping *to*?" Because for most of us, the honest answer is: nothing better exists yet. What's yours?
